I'm Not Driving AnymoreThe car rushes into view a mile and a half a minute, threatening to become airborne at any second. Already, the sensation of someone inside of it could be likened to the feel of flying. Coupled with the lightheadedness the driver was experiencing, the illusion was complete as he held his foot down on the gas pedal, endless strips of asphalt disappearing between the tires.

CorrodingFour fingers and three thumbs on long, stretched-taffy hands
Fingers stir, partially outstretched, searching
Taut arms jut forward, wiry as rope
Feet shuffle forward, stumbling on unsure footing
It advances, jaws agape, two round eyes too close together

As it advances on immobilized prey
Its fingers shake like leaves in anticipation
Each thumb finds its burrow
Eye, nostril, mouth
Blinding, blocking, choking

Fingers mesh behind the head and melt
Wrists become one in a grotesque mask
Fusing, sealing, vapor rises from cold skin
The melting taffy-skin invades, but nothing comes out
Oozing into the lungs and down the throat, corrodin
